This time on frametrax, we\u2019ll listen to works from the man who pioneered the art of electronic scores, Giorgio Moroder.<\/span><\/p>\n He began to compose film soundtracks and scores, including\u00a0Midnight Express<\/i>,\u00a0American Gigolo<\/i>,\u00a0Superman III<\/i>,\u00a0Scarface<\/i>,\u00a0The NeverEnding Story<\/i>, and the 1984 restoration of\u00a0Metropolis<\/i>. Moroder\u2019s work on the film\u00a0Midnight Express<\/i>\u00a0(1978), which contained the international hit \u201cChase\u201d, won him the\u00a0Academy Award for Best Original Score\u00a0and the\u00a0Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score. He also produced a number of electronic disco songs for\u00a0the Three Degrees, two albums for\u00a0Sparks, and a handful of songs on\u00a0Bonnie Tyler\u2019s album\u00a0Bitterblue<\/i>\u00a0as well as her 1985 single \u201cHere She Comes\u201d. In 1990, he composed \u201cUn\u2019estate italiana\u201d, the official theme song of the\u00a01990 FIFA World Cup.<\/span><\/p>\n Moroder has created songs for many performers including\u00a0David Bowie,\u00a0Falco,\u00a0Kylie Minogue,\u00a0Irene Cara,\u00a0Janet Jackson,\u00a0Madleen Kane,\u00a0Melissa Manchester,\u00a0Blondie,\u00a0Japan\u00a0and\u00a0France Joli. Moroder has stated that the work of which he is most proud is\u00a0Berlin\u2019s \u201cTake My Breath Away\u201d, which earned him the\u00a0Academy Award for Best Original Song\u00a0and the\u00a0Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song\u00a0after appearing in the film\u00a0Top Gun<\/i>\u00a0in 1986; he had earned the same awards in 1983 for \u201cFlashdance\u2026 What a Feeling\u201d (as well as the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score for all of his work on\u00a0Flashdance<\/i>). In addition to the three Academy Awards and four Golden Globes, Moroder has also received four\u00a0Grammy Awards, two\u00a0People\u2019s Choice Awards, and more than 100 Golden and Platinum discs.
