In this special episode, we\u2019ll be listening to the works of one of the single greatest and prolific composers of ALL time with over 240 scores to his name including Star Trek, Gremlins and Patton! \u00a0It\u2019s the great Jerry Goldsmith, this time on FrameTrax.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He composed scores for five films in the\u00a0<\/span>Star Trek<\/i>\u00a0<\/span>franchise and three in the\u00a0<\/span>Rambo<\/i>\u00a0<\/span>franchise, as well as for films including\u00a0<\/span>Logan’s Run<\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Planet of the Apes<\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Tora! Tora! Tora!<\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Patton<\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Papillon<\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Chinatown<\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>The Omen<\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Alien<\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Poltergeist<\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>The Secret of NIMH<\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Medicine Man<\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Gremlins<\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Hoosiers<\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Total Recall<\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Basic Instinct<\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Air Force One<\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>L.A. Confidential<\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>Mulan<\/i>, and\u00a0<\/span>The Mummy<\/i>. He also composed the\u00a0<\/span>fanfares\u00a0<\/span>accompanying the\u00a0<\/span>production logos\u00a0<\/span>used by multiple major\u00a0<\/span>film studios, and music for the Disney attraction\u00a0<\/span>Soarin’<\/i>.<\/p>\n

He collaborated with directors including\u00a0<\/span>Robert Wise,\u00a0<\/span>Howard Hawks,\u00a0<\/span>Otto Preminger,\u00a0<\/span>Joe Dante,\u00a0<\/span>Richard Donner,\u00a0<\/span>Richard Fleischer,\u00a0<\/span>Ridley Scott,\u00a0<\/span>Steven Spielberg,\u00a0<\/span>Michael Crichton,\u00a0<\/span>Roman Polanski,\u00a0<\/span>Gordon Douglas,\u00a0<\/span>Fred Schepisi,\u00a0<\/span>Paul Verhoeven, and\u00a0<\/span>Franklin J. Schaffner. His work for Donner and Scott also involved a rejected score for\u00a0<\/span>Timeline<\/i>\u00a0<\/span>and a controversially edited score for\u00a0<\/span>Alien<\/i>, where music by Howard Hanson replaced Goldsmith’s end titles and Goldsmith’s own work on\u00a0<\/span>Freud: The Secret Passion<\/i>\u00a0<\/span>was used without his approval in several scenes.<\/p>\n
